Join us for a live chat on Twitter at 11am UK time on 22 October 2015: Piirus is going to be hosting ECRchat. You can check your local time here, so you know what to mark on your calendar! ECRchat is a Twitter hashtag and live chat for early career researchers, also known as postdocs or adjuncts, and it is a great way to share and learn from others in real time, which makes your connections so much more powerful.
Our theme for discussion will be:
Networking and Creating Opportunities in the Third and Public Sectors.
At this point, you might wonder “what is the third sector”? Well, it’s a part of the economy that goes under many names. It is also sometimes known as the non-profit sector, the voluntary sector, or even non-governmental or not-for-profit sector. And of course the “public sector” refers to the part of the economy that is all about government services including health, police, schools, military, transport, etc.
We’d love to hear from you about whether and how you have connections with these sectors. Do you want to do research on or with them? Have you already done research for the third sector or public sector? What was that experience like? What tips might you pass on to other researchers who are planning to do research for them? These questions and more are likely to come up in our chat, so be sure to sign in and take part!
How do I take part in ECRchat on Twitter?
The Twitter hashtag #ECRchat has always got great tweets, but ECR chat is more than just a hashtag! You can take part, just by logging in to Twitter at the appointed time and then tweeting with the hashtag. You can just watch the hashtag of course:
A whole schedule of ECRchats is being planned, and you can get involved and host one yourself, but don’t forget to sign in and join us for our chat on 22 October!
Piirus also hosted ECRchat earlier this year, and you can find a summary of that chat on Digital Tools for Academics over on Piirus’ Storify account. Finally, don’t forget to create your profile over on Piirus itself!
